Editorial Policy

How we verify calculators and articles, what we claim and what we do not, and how corrections are handled.

Last updated 23 August 2026

Scope

This policy applies to every calculator and article on ScoreIndexer that produces or explains a sports score, handicap, rating, points total, pace or performance equivalent.

Editorially source-checked

The ScoreIndexer editorial team verifies that each calculator implements the formula stated on its page, that coefficients, factor tables and base times match a named published version from the relevant governing body, and that consequential claims remain consistent with the sources cited. The version in use and the date of the most recent check appear on every page.

What this label means

Editorial source-checking is not an official rules ruling, a governing-body certification, a coaching assessment, or medical review. If a qualified professional contributes to a page, that page will name the person, their credentials, their role, and the date of their contribution.

What we do not claim

  • We do not issue, certify or replace official handicaps, ratings, points scores or classifications. Only an authorised governing body or affiliated club can do that.
  • We do not predict the results of matches, races, tournaments or seasons.
  • We do not provide betting odds, tips, staking, or expected-value advice of any kind.
  • We do not offer individual coaching, training prescriptions, nutrition plans, or medical, injury or return-to-play guidance.
  • We do not publish news, results, transfer information or third-party photography.
  • We do not calculate DLS par scores or reproduce any proprietary rating algorithm or licensed dataset.
  • Our outputs are estimates computed from the inputs you supply. Confirm any consequential figure with your club, league or governing body.

Source hierarchy

We cite primary sources in the following order of precedence:

  1. Governing-body rulebooks and playing conditions, cited by section and edition.
  2. The governing body’s own published tables and technical documents, cited by version year.
  3. Peer-reviewed literature for physiological formulas, linked via DOI or PubMed.
  4. Established competition practice, labelled as such and distinguished from a published rule.

Secondary summaries and other websites are never a source. The full authority table, with version and date-checked columns, is on the methodology page.

When pages are updated

We do not promise a fixed review cadence — we will not claim to do what we cannot sustain. Pages are updated when one of the following occurs:

  • A governing body publishes a new rulebook edition, a revised coefficient set, or a re-based points table.
  • A formula in use is superseded by a newer published version.
  • A reader reports a discrepancy between a calculator’s output and the cited source.
  • A calculator’s method or implementation changes.

Every material edit refreshes the visible “Last updated” date on the page, updates the version register, and bumps the sitemap lastmod.

Corrections

If you believe a calculator produces an incorrect result or an article contains an error, please contact us at editor@scoreindexer.com.

Reports are checked against the page and its cited rulebook or source document. Confirmed corrections update the affected page, the version register, and the visible “Last updated” date.

Health-adjacent content

Physiological tools — heart-rate zones, training load, and anything body-composition-adjacent — are health-adjacent. Any such page on this site carries all four of the following:

  1. Reference framing: “This is what the published equation gives for your inputs,” never “train in this zone.”
  2. A named, linked citation to the primary paper via DOI or PubMed, plus the population it was derived from and the standard error on an individual.
  3. A consult-a-professional note in a visible warning callout.
  4. A link to this editorial policy and the negative-claims block above.
